About Clip Status

Why it exists

Checking whether GitHub, AWS, or Stripe is having a bad day usually means a dashboard, a bookmark folder, or a Slack bot someone set up once and forgot about. Clip Status is the alternative: the status of everything you depend on, always one glance away, in the same place you already look — the menu bar on Mac, the Dynamic Island and widgets on iPhone.

How it's built

Native Swift and SwiftUI, nothing else. No Electron, no background web view, no bundled runtime. It's built to feel like part of macOS, not like a website wearing an app icon.

The service catalog lives outside the app binary, so new services can be added without waiting on an app update. The app itself never phones home beyond the status pages you enable, that catalog, and — only if you set one up — a webhook you configure yourself.

What it isn't

It isn't a dashboard you open, remember to check, and close. It isn't a status page aggregator with an account, a login, or a pricing tier for basic notifications. It doesn't collect analytics or sell data, because there isn't any account or backend to collect it into in the first place.
